Temporary workers

To hire a foreign worker, you may need to declare a job offer on the employer portal, or obtain an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment). We can guide you through the process of posting a job offer on the employer portal. For your information, a temporary worker who applies to renew his or her work permit before it expires has the right to continue working under the conditions imposed until a decision is made on the application, according to paragraph 186u and section 189 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). As an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure that the employee truly in “maintained status”.
